First of all my name is Maria Paz Belen Aguila Vargas, the three names are because each of my brothers choose one, luckily i had only three then because years later we found out that we have another one.
I was born here in Santiago in 1998 but i have lived my whole life in Talca, i didn't finish my last year of school there because i had to go with my father to Peru for a year, i remember that i was really scared of Peru because i thought that peruvians hated us, but i met a lot of people from different countries that were really nice to me and helped to get through that year away from my friends and my brothers, but also unfortunately once someone screamed me horrible thing´s just because i was wearing a t-shirt from Chile.
That year was very important to me because i had the chance to travel with my brother to different countries of south america like Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Brasil and of course Peru. One of my dream destinations were uyuni salt flats and Machu Picchu, this places are amazing it's just like the pictures of the internet but the journey to get there is exhausting.
When i came back from Peru i met my niece Matilde that was born when we were out, she has 4 years now and is the only niece of the family.
Then i had to return to Talca and study for the PSU, but i didn't do it so it wasn't a good result, so my father told me that i should take another year and do a pre-university, that year i studied a lot and i get a good result, but i didn't know what to do next, so i decided go to Valparaiso and apply for an engineering in the USM, it was a beautiful university but i didn't like my career and i decide that i had to study what i always wanted that was veterinary, the hard part was telling my father because i thought that he wouldn't support but on the contrary he was happy for me and told me to make what makes me happy no matter what and here we are now.
Why did i choose veterinary medicine?
When I was a little girl I wanted to be a dentist according to my photo album that my mom made for me, since I can remember I always wanted to be a veterinarian
and every
summer we went to Chiloe to see my grandparents in the countryside so I could
see a lot of different animals like cows, horses, pigs, chickens, etc.
I used to feed
them and play with them.
When I had to
send my application I choose another career first because I felt pressure
and all the time people told me that as a veterinarian I’ll never find a job
and if I get to find one the money It won´t be much, so after hearing all that I
decided and engineering but I wasn´t happy doing that and I decided to follow
my dream and stopped talking with people that didn´t have nice things to say.
I love this new
career but I hate that the university is so far from my house, but is also a
good thing because we have a lot of trees and different types of animals.
When I finish
university I want to go to Australia and study their native wildlife, mainly snakes
and sharks and maybe open a clinic of exotic animals.
The cellphone, my favorite gadget
Years ago having a cellphone was very difficult
because they were very expensive, I remember the first phone that my father
bought was huge but only could do phone calls and you had to buy a card to
charge money to the cellphone.
My first cellphone was a flip phone and I love
it because you could download music and take pictures.
Nowadays everything is different, my cellphone
is everything for me, for example in the mornings I wake up because of the
alarms, also check the weather to see if I have to wear a jacket or sandals,
also the mails remember me of tests or important stuff of the university.
I think that the cellphone is very important in
the university because it makes easier to share information and study with
classmates, for example in anatomy we can take pictures and then in the house
study with this photos and is so much easier this way.
Finally I think that the communication with the
family is quicker and simple.
I have a brother that lives in another country
and without my phone or the technology I wouldn`t be able to talk to him so
often or send him memes xD.
